KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (ETSPJ) — Diversity in journalism is important to us at East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists. If you’re a journalist, you’re welcome, no matter your race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or any other factor.
On November 14, we want to know why diversity in journalism is important to you. Join us in celebrating diversity and inclusion by posting a short video or photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram that explains how you work to be inclusive and diverse in staffing your newsrooms and in your reporting, and tell us what #SPJ4ALL means to you.
Be sure to use the hashtag #SPJ4ALL and tag the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists and Society of Professional Journalists in your videos and photos. We’ll share some of our favorites!
If you need some inspiration, try searching the #SPJ4ALL hashtag on Twitter to see what has been done in years past. This is a chance for you, our members, to showcase how you promote and celebrate diversity in your chapters and newsrooms.
Not confident in posting a video? Here are some other ways to participate:
- Post a photo of you, coworkers, chapter members, journalist friends, etc. with #SPJ4ALL
- Share stories of why diversity in journalism is important to you, and tag us in them
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating — and encouraging — diversity. Our differences will only produce better journalism across the board, and we’ll all be better for it.
