Jessica Taylor to speak on analyzing election poll data at UT

An editor with a leading poll and election rating publication will give insights into analyzing election poll data during a free program on Sept. 11 at the University of Tennessee.

The Cook Political Report‘s JessicaTaylor will provide industry insight into how properly analyzing poll data is vital for informing political understanding during the 6 p.m. talk in the Scripps Lab (Room 402 Communications Building) on the University of Tennessee campus. The program is free and open to the public.

A native of Elizabethton in Upper East Tennessee, she is the Senate and Governors Editor for The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter. Previously, she worked as a reporter for NPR for five years and also has worked for MSNBC and CNN. She is frequently quoted in the news media, including publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.

Taylor is the first female senior author for The Almanac of American Politics in the book’s 50 year history.

She graduated magna cum laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Furman University.

The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter describes itself as “providing independent, non-partisan analysis of elections and campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, Governors and President as well as American political trends.”

It was founded by Charlie Cook in 1984 and is a leading prognosticator and producer of federal and state election ratings.
