Golden Press Card

The deadline to enter the Golden Press Card contest has been extended to midnight Feb. 15.

The board of the East Tennessee Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists on Friday extended the entry deadline.

The deadline had been midnight Monday, Feb. 7.

Rules, categories and help information is available on the contest website.

If you are an East Tennessee journalist, please consider entering your best work of 2021.

Last year there were nearly 70 first and second place winners in radio, television, metro and small newspapers, digital only news organizations and other publications. Some categories have winners by media type while others have all entries competing together.

There are  plus a “Best of Show” award, “The Golden Press Card,” selected from the category winners.

One special category is the Horace V. Wells Jr. Community Service Award, named for a legendary East Tennessee journalist. Entries can be a single story or video that demonstrates impact. We encourage all news organizations to consider entering this category.
