Enter your best work from 2020 NOW.

Sponsored by the East Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the competition returns after taking last year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UPDATE: Deadline extended. Entries are being accepted until midnight April 30 at a new contest site:

There are 20 categories plus a “Best of Show” award selected from the category winners.

Entries can be made for television, metro newspapers, non-metro newspapers, radio, digital only and freelance.

Here is the full list of categories:

Some categories have winners by media type while others, reflecting the converging media environment, have all entries competing together.

Works created during 2020 can be entered. Here are the instructions and rules:

All entries and entry payments are made online on the contest site.

The chapter is using for the first time a contest platform used by many other journalism contests. We have some “how-tos” for creating an account on the system here:

As in the past, judging will done by members of another SPJ professional chapter.

The awards will be announced later this year, but the format and timing of the announcement have not been decided due to continuing COVID-19 concerns. Watch for an announcement by the Chapter.

Good luck!
